Lightning
Yesterday had a little color, a little less haze, and I could see the hazy green of the Gulf. Late in the day, AdventureMan asked “are those car lights flashing?” and we looked outside and could see lightning, but it appeared to be only over the Gulf, and never close enough for us to hear any thunder from it. Hours later, the same storm was still going on. The wind rose, and whistled through the cracks in our “luxury” building; lightning continued to flash – but we never saw a drop of rain.
This morning, there is some color, but a lot of haze. It is 77°F / 25°C at 0800. I don’t have asthma, but I feel a little like I am breathing under water today.

“we never saw a drop of rain” … where were you? did you miss it all?
Awwwww – that shot is awesome.
Just a bit of rain here, lots of lightning, but that was it
nice shot
I am so embarrassed. It never for a heartbeat occurred to me you would think I took that shot. It is a stock shot I found by Googling lighning. I didn’t take the photo above.
BBQ8 – No! Maybe I slept through it, but my husband said he didn’t hear any rain either, and we didn’t see any sign of it this morning. The Kuwait Times said there was a DOWNPOUR! We totally missed it.
Intlxpatr, apparently the downpour happened in the area between Kuwait City and Salwa only.
Wow… whoever took that photograph has superb timing! And, yes, I thought YOU did it, too!
I couldn’t tell you how many times I’ve plopped myself down in a lightning storm and tried shot after shot after shot to catch a lightning bolt in actual time. Have yet to succeed. Most of my photograph friends tell me to use time lapse, or simply digital video and lift the frame from the loop. However they do it, those shots are truly magnificent.
As for rain, I can box some up and send it to you if you need it! I haven’t had to water my azaleas since I put them in the ground!
I was surprised to read about the storm and flooding (!!) in Arabtimes. We didn’t hear the rain either but the cars showed evidence of rain this morning.
The downpour mostly occurred over central Q8 & the northern areas. Most of our construction work went to hell because of the wind & sand. :/
It only happened for about 15-30 mins maximum more or less, though the lightning show was breathtaking! (yep I braved it & went out for a ‘closer’ look LOL).
i have a feeling that our American friends tested something and yesterday was the side effect, wether ‘3athab min allah sob7ana w ta3alah or a vast speedy change in the weather after a *whatever test* trust me, it happens.
I was bowled over thinking you had taken that shot!
I was going to say WOW!
The weather has been playing tricks these days
LOL, Intlxpatr – don’t worry. Why would I doubt you could take a shot like that?
I’m like Lofter.
Trying shot after shot.
But I know very well that with the limitations of my cam I can wait forever. At least this time I managed to get a bright blotchy spot on two of my shots, lol
And Lofter – I take that box of rain any time
Thanks, ??? I was even trying to shoot photos while the disaster struck Kuwait City, and hadn’t a clue how serious things were, such a short distance away.
Lofter, I appreciate your (undeserved) faith in me, and now I’m going to have to try to live up to it!
FleetingMoment – we didn’t even have a drop on our cars!
Я – Ah! It was YOU and all those other guys with cameras, out scouting the storm. It was so quick, though!
LLLLOOOOLLLLL, Wizardous. I wish YOU had taken some photos!
Jewaira – I hope you saved your breath!
Cruxine – it is a very strange spring, isn’t it?
Nicole – Maybe YOU could do it! I think it takes real dedication to get a photo like that one.
inshalla will do after i expose them
We are waiting, Wizardous!
