Camel Racing Championship – Who Knew?

Camel racing championship kicks off
Camels ridden by robot jockeys take off at the beginning of a race that was held on the martyr Fahad AlـAhmad AlـSabah track in Kabad on Sunday. The competition marked the start of the Kuwait Ninth Camel Racing Championship which is being held from Feb. 15ـ19. (Al Watan)

My whine: This is the kind of event that thrills our little western souls. We love your cultural events, and camel racing – like how exotic does it get? Robot riders? oh WOW. We would have gone in a heartbeat, but you all kept it a SECRET! (whining whining whining) We only find out the day AFTER it happens!

If you find u-turns at Fahaheel a source for concern, then the last place you should go to is Kabd! Some things are better kept is a world of fantacy. It will always be better there. We keep it a secret for a reason
I say this but I must admit I’ve never been myself.
LOL, Bu Yousef, I used to go to the camel races in Saudi Arabia. The same word applies that I use for the U-turns in Fehaheel – hilarious. Sometimes a race would start by accident, because someone dropped the rope. Sometimes a camel would race in the wrong direction (often). I loved the sheer chaos of it all.
Well you’re a bigger person than me. It drives me round the bend. I would probably start fixing things and putting some sort of order in the mayhem…
Difficult to see the nice side of chaos even in nicer spots
I love Rome but can only visit – could never live there.
Even my husband, the great cynic, told me the other day he thinks he can see SLIGHT improvement on the Kuwait roads. People are still using their mobile phones, in spite of the law, but we see more children buckled in, fewer children in the front seat, more seat belt usage. And – the other day, at the top of an exit ramp, I saw a man get out of his car and use the trash bin! Yes! Yes! Yes, I did!
WOW…I”m impressed someone used a trash can…but it needs to happen 100X over!
You are right, desertteacher, and great changes start with small changes, people willing to set the example. Wooo HOOO on people who use trash cans, and don’t treat Kuwait like one big trash can!

This is because marketing is considered an administrative function in Kuwait. Case in point: Hala February events.
DG – Hala February? There are events? I thought it was like some stores holding sales, but I never saw any indication of which ones!
Kuwait needs some marketing.
