Pathetic and Divorce

When I saw this cartoon in the New Yorker, I laughed out loud. I have a friend whose husband is leaving her. No, that is not a laughing matter. He wants to be young again, he seeks (to no avail) younger girlfriends, and she has discovered he has a page on MySpace where he tries to make himself younger and cooler than he really is.

He is about to be wifeless, desperate to regain his lost youth, and pathetically eager to attract young women who really prefer hot young men. The “EEEEEEWWWWWWWWW Factor” is just too horrendous to contemplate.

He also has two teen aged sons. I can’t imagine how they must feel when they see Dad is leaving Mom, and has his own MySpace page.

Ya gotta love the The New Yorker.

  2. Its a really sad and disturbing situation. I am sure not that much for the parents but surely for the kids!

  3. lol so sad, but some people have to learn the hard way.

if the guy is anything to go by then your friend should be breathing a huuuge sigh of relief instead of mourning a marriage, since i’m pretty sure he must have been a pain to live with.

  4. You know, Chirp, she is going to do fine. Her heart is broken, right now, because she remember the fine man deep inside, and mourns that he has changed so drastically. She’ll move on, and she will do fine. She just got a hot new degree and is sought after, professionally.

Fast Lane – You are so so right. It’s like your past is ripped in half, isn’t it?

Hey, Skunk! You’re right about her being well rid of him if he can make such poor judgment calls. It’s just so sad; once he was a decent husband and family man.

  6. Reminds me of a 65 year old “friend” of ours who all off a sudden had the idea to marry a barely 18 year old (younger than his kids) and father another child ….. 😦
