New Kuwait Traffic Fines

A new e-mail flying around Kuwait gives the new traffic fines. At first, I thought this was a joke, but it looks pretty serious. Will someone please explain why a Jordanian car would get such a stiff fine?

And I remember a lot of discussion about penalties for talking on a mobile phone while driving, but when did the law pass? Was there any announcement? And babies in the front seat, not allowed, when did that change? All of this is amazing to me, I am still wondering if it is a hoax?

Do you think the police will really enforce these laws?

  1. Hoping that they do, but I highly doubt it. people don’t have enough respect for the Popo’s in this country. The popo’s are actually really lazy. Was driving to the shalaih, I see a cop car parked on the side, realized I was going 160 km/h, slow down a little bit, and see the cops sitting outisde the car, with little chairs and a table with a ma6ara of tea. I laughed πŸ˜›

  2. lol! so we are not supposed to ride with Jordanians? ( kidding) .. Don’t worry , they just want to scare you, You can drive in a Jordanian car with the baby in the driver seat while you sip coffee and munch a burger and smoking and talking on the mobile at 160K/hr. Cool! and the fun part is the cops are having a race with you!

  4. this is an email that has been going around without people checking if its true, the Jordanain license thing should give you an idea its a joke.

  5. Chirp – Now THAT is funny! I get to watch the police all the time – they aren’t like our police. They are a lot nicer, more polite, and I totally love it that they kiss their friends. I see them – they are working hard when I see them.

Skunk – Purg says it’s a hoax, and I should have noticed the fine for “your wife driving” which should be a dead giveaway.

Thanks, Purg. Unfortunately, it is going to a lot of the foreign businesses, and then being circulated as God’s truth. I just thought it odd that there was no notice, but there was also no notice about Gulf Road closing, AAARRRGGGHHH!

  13. Oh My Gosh! How can somebody is too IGNORANT THAT BABIES ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SEAT IN FRONT OR AT THE PASSENGERS SEAT!!!!! pLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS matter,,,,, review the rules and regulations about driving and traffic rules.

New rules should be implemented to minimize the traffic accident here in kuwait.

HOW COME YOUNG OR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS are allowed here to drive. They drive wrecklessly.

Please explain the rule # 7.

    Thank you.

  14. Ligaya – Welcome! I almost photographed a little boy, maybe two years old, hanging out of a car window today, but I was afraid his parents would hound me down and kill me!

I have to tell you something funny. The work you used – wreckless – means having NO wrecks. The word you meant to use was reckless – it is so close, it is easy to confuse the two.

The Purg says this list is a joke, but interestingly enough, the traffic department in the newspaper implied some new rules are coming, so maybe this was what they call a “trial balloon” – floating an idea to see what people think. Most of them sound reasonable to me (if ENFORCED) but I think #7 must be a joke. It’s a joke I don’t get, though.

  19. So far so good, Suhail. If nothing has shown up by now, it is unlikely it will. When traffic photos are ambiguous, i.e. not entirely clear as to a violation, they are often dropped. Let’s hope you got lucky. πŸ™‚
