Not So Fast!

The other day, I was taking breakfast to a friend. For me, I love Gulf breakfasts, I love fried Haloumi, I love felafel, I love hummous and even beans. I love hot fragrant flat bread, fresh out of the oven.

But I knew my friend needed some protein, so I went to a nearby MickyD’s.

It was not fast food. It was very very very very slow food. And even worse – when I got to my friends house, and gave her the BIG value breakfast, she opened the box and – it was pancakes. They were not just slow, they also gave me the WRONG order!

I have to tell you, I was astonished to see so many people there. People like me, women, families, sitting and visiting and eating at McDonalds as they would at a much nicer place, Pain Quotidien or Paul’s or some coffee place. And the McDonalds actually looked nicer than the run-of-the-mill McDonalds, it was clean and even had some relatively nice furniture. But it was NOT fast food!

  1. I’m a big fan of “MickyD’s” breakfast, especially the big one near the gulf. Too bad they gave you the wrong order, but generally, I prefer to dine in instead of a “take-out” whenever I have a breakfast at Macdonald’s.

  3. I am on a diet now and I cant eat this anymore but I used to love a hearty breakfast of ‘spicy, mashed foul medamas’ and freid halloum, with crispy lebanese bread.

I havent tried a Mac breakfast in a long time but I used to like the egg/sausage muffin thingies for breakfast.

  6. Angelo – I rarely darken their door – most of their foods have WAY too many calories for me. Have you seen Fast Food Nation???

Big Pearls – Me too, most of the time. And then every now and then – like maybe once a year – I CRAVE a Burger King Whopper.

Oh Amer, a diet! LOL! Your hearty breakfast sounds healthy to me! I like the sausage McMuffin, too, like . . . maybe once a year or less!

Error – oh please! No, Error, what a damning judgement!

  11. What I love in Kuwait is all the healthy alternatives, Amu. Like Shish Taouk, and the mutabels and hummos, and tabouli and fresh fresh hot bread, and all the FISH! Wooo Hoooooo! Who needs fast food? (except my friend, and it did come in handy when that is what she wanted.)
