Christmas in Kuwait
There are Christmas trees in Kuwait, in the malls, in the stores, and Santa and his reindeer are everywhere. I can remember other Christmases – in Saudi Arabia, in Jordan, in Tunisia, in Qatar – when you never knew if this was a year when Christmas would be allowed or not.
For my family and friends not in Kuwait, you would be amazed what you can find here. I am just showing a tiny bit of what you can find these days in Kuwait:

Here There and Everywhere 
on my way back from the gym this morning I passed a Sunni family – mom, dad, and teenage son. Mom was dressed in a manteau & scarf, and son was dressed in a Santa cap. Eidayn mubarakayn!
I am surprised they are allowed to do so, it has been a few years or decades since they could, so I find it interesting.

I find the displays with “snow” interesting. I would certainly never associate snow with Kuwait and other Middle East countries. Mental mishmash of season and culture!
there are also christmas carolers in hilton mangaf i’m not sure about their timings though
A hotel in fact hosted Santa Claus where kids can sit on his lap and ask him what they want!
girl in my days i didn’t see any of that! i’m so glad to see that they do accept now other cultures and believes out in the open! ๐

I love this time of year and always (wrongly) thought we would never know it to be Christmas in Kuwait. The only thing missing is having a really ‘white Christmas’…the merryness is all around us ๐

Have you noticed all the lights and trees up this year? I am seeing them everywhere!
I think snow would be magical…I was in Santa’s wonderland last week, in a new shopping place opened in London (Westfield, which I believe is the largest Mall in Europe)…anyhow, we all had the chance to catch magic stars and pop them into Santa’s wishing sack…you can geuss I wished really hard for snow…so anything is possible I guess ๐
I was driving around Mangaf last night and saw a huge, brightly lit tree in someone’s front room…it looked so lovely I was tempted to knock on their door…the 2 indian men sitting next door with a fire burning high in that cold with the tree in the background would have made a good photo for all you budding photographers out there.
p.s I have managed to bring cold and very real-like snow with me from London for our tree, so all is not lost ๐ ๐
I love driving around at night and seeing all the trees, and knowing they aren’t all Westerners, that lots of different people are putting up trees. Snow in Kuwait – that would really be something. ๐ BTW, Santa and reindeer are at Crown Plaza. Pretty!
