Great Kuwait Sunset Challenge
The votes are in – based solely on sheer volume, I am crowned Queen-of-the-Sunrise. It’s a question of location – I am presented with the perfect opportunity almost daily (not, like today, when it is haze from horizon to horizon) and I take it.
Sunsets, however, are another matter. I rarely see the sun go down and think “oh! I have to get a photo of that!”
For example:
How pathetic is that?
Here is my challenge to you, Kuwait bloggers. Find a Kuwait sunset. Shoot a photo. Post it on your blog and come back to tell us here that it has been posted. I want to see Kuwait sunset through your eyes. Make it speak!

Ansam – I await eagerly!
AbdulAziz – I posted your glorious shots this morning!
Comment by intlxpatr | October 3, 2008 |
Teagirl, I love your photos – you have studied and learned so much about how to take really GOOD photographs. I want to see more sunsets! Send – or post – several; we want to see through your eyes!

What a great idea π π
Just yesterday i took out my camera to recharge the batteries. I had a lot of dusting off to do since I hadn’t touched it since May π
Will go sunset hunting soon….eeeh just a quick question: What time is sunset?
BTW, you truly are the Queen-of-the-Sunrise; the other day i was watching the sunrise and the first thought that came to my mind was whether u were taking a pic of this divine scenery.
Comment by Darya | October 3, 2008 |
Darya, I think it is earlier every day. Maybe as early as 5:30 ish. Thank you for thinking of me; yes, especially on beautiful days, sometimes I take nine or ten shots and then have to decide which to post, they are all so beautiful, and the light changes subtly second by second. But, so far, my Kuwait sunsets are a dud. Let’s see what YOU can show us. π
Comment by intlxpatr | October 3, 2008 |
Can we photoshop the images? will they qualify if we did?
Comment by Yousef | October 3, 2008 |
If you look on my blog, http://www.pelicansinkuwait.blogspot.com and go through about 6 posts (you may have to go to Older posts at the bottom right) you will see the Sunrise and Sunset through my eyes (with, of course, appropriate mention and applause to you)
Coming from MN where we have lovely lingering sunsets in the summer, I’m still learning that one has to be “fast” here to take a sunset photo.
Still enjoying your blog. Thanks
NWB

Nadine, I found the page: Sunrise / Sunset on page two
LOL – Yours still beats mine, even though it is a parking lot, there is a palm tree!
Comment by intlxpatr | October 4, 2008 |
Yousef – Would I know it if you Photoshopped? YOU are the one who would have to live with knowing you had to cheat to win . . . I can’t believe you could do that. π
I found you twice in spam – I am guessing you are at the chalet; somehow the different location is sending you to spam. But . . . if you are at the chalet, it is probably the PERFECT place to capture a unique sunset shot! Good luck!

Hope you like it.
Comment by Don Veto | October 8, 2008 |
Wow – Don Veto, you get the award for the earliest entry, I am guessing, with a 2005 sunset. I think AbdulAziz’ were all 2006 or later! Woot woot, more streetlights! π Thanks for your sunset, through the eyes of an eager-to-get-home commuter!
Comment by intlxpatr | October 8, 2008 |
Hi ! I’d like to take part in this challenge.
I’ve posted the pictures in my blog. π
Comment by Mathai | October 8, 2008 |
Hey man did it ever occur to you that the best place to snap a sunset is at the beach!!!!!
There is no Poles, Trees etc to spoil the shot.
Cheers
Michael
Comment by Michael Alvarez | October 10, 2008 |
Michael, I am carefully restraining a sarcastic reply. You are right. Mostly, the Kuwait coastline faces away from the sunset, however. A couple very clever bloggers have found a way to shoot a picturesque sunset – even over water. Do you live in Kuwait? Believe me, it is a challenge to find a picturesque sunset.
